Data and Networking

It’s not the connection you can work with that you need, it’s the one you can’t work without. When your network is a critical part of your day-to-day business, you need Smithville® Digital. Our Metro Ethernet Network keeps you connected at speeds of up to 10 Gbps with virtually zero downtime.

Our network is engineered for survivability with redundant fiber rings and multiple NOC locations. We offer an integrated portfolio of data/networking services including Internet bandwidth, point-to-point connectivity, redundancy, and dark fiber.

Internet Bandwidth

The fact is: there never seems to be enough bandwidth. That’s not likely to change as businesses grow and more data is handled digitally (and remotely).

We offer Internet bandwidth from 1 Mbps up to 1 Gbps and help you determine the right amount for your business. All of our bandwidth plans are customized and designed with full flexibility for short-term and long-term growth.

Don’t fear the future. We know it usually means expensive changes and upgrades to technology, but our network is built to scale with you.

Occasionally, needs change over night. We understand and can adjust your bandwidth even if it’s just for a few days.

Need support after hours?
With multiple NOC locations and modern technology, our network is monitored 24/7. In the event something does go wrong, we generally know about it first and can often resolve any network issues before the customer is affected.

If you’re used to calling support late at night, we have that too. Though we don’t think you’ll ever use it.

Digital customers: Test your speed here.

Point-to-Point Connectivity

Business growth often means new locations. Point-to-point connectivity is a great way to share data and connect all your offices. We provide a dedicated fiber connection to each location, allowing you to share data between locations at connection speeds of 100 Mbps to 10 Gbps. Plus, the nature of fiber technology provides the capability for increasing these speeds in the future.

Every business is different, so we will custom design a network that is uniquely you. If you require individual connections between specific offices; or prefer a LAN configuration providing network resource access to a large group, we can accommodate.

Simple is better.
Because we use Ethernet as our core protocol, implementation is standards-based – allowing for a smooth transition to your new network.

Network security is vital.
We understand the importance of providing a powerful, yet secure connection. Our private network does not use the Internet to transfer data, eliminating the need for additional security on your end.

Survivability – "What if?"

We often ask ourselves the ‘what if’ questions. The answer is redundancy. We’ve built two Network Operations Centers, then layered our network with fiber rings to increase survivability.

As an added measure, we can add any number of alternative fiber paths from your business to our network to increase the survivability of your connection.

In a perfect world, equipment would never break – of course we all know that’s not a reality. In addition to path redundancy, hardware redundancy may be desirable. It’s as simple as adding a second switch and a battery power back-up system in your facility.

Dark Fiber

Do you prefer more control of your network? Not a problem. We also offer dark fiber. This ultimate form of customization, allows you to utilize a whole strand of fiber to meet your network specifications.

Sometimes distance can be a barrier to having your own network. We also provide a hybrid form of dark fiber, known as dim fiber or transport fiber. With this type of service, you receive a truly dedicated connection.

The help you really need.

Sometimes it’s just easier to let someone else manage your network. Our Managed IT Services see to all the little details you don’t want or have time to handle. You can keep us on call by predetermining blocks of support time, or receive a one-time consultation.

We can manage your Wi-Fi networks, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, network connections, and site-to-site connections. Our services include the initial set up, configuration or changes, on-going maintenance, back-up or restoration, and support contract management.

Anything and everything.

We know your new fiber network connection will provide a laundry list of new or improved technological opportunities. If you need help, we can also establish domains, provide DNS hosting, web hosting, email accounts and even install structured wiring. Whatever you’re thinking, just ask – we’re here to help.
