You can't fake authenticity. Our roots are grounded in helping businesses communicate better. We got our start almost 90 years ago, when we engineered the first connection between the major limestone quarries of Monroe County.
We’re not the cable company or a reseller – this is the same genuine, industrial-grade power behind nearly every phone conversation of the last century.
What matters to us is what matters to you – phone service that always works, a quick response, and a direct line to our local engineers and technicians.
When it comes to telephones, newer isn’t always better. We are not an IP telephone service. Smithville® uses traditional voice over a 100% facilities-based fiber optic network. It’s pure digital with all the benefits of VoIP – but instead of sending your voice out into the open winds of the Internet (and hoping it makes it through in one piece), your conversation goes directly from you to your clients.
Have you ever been on a call where the voice seems to cut out? It’s highly likely one party was using VoIP. The nature of VoIP creates a potential to lose pieces of data as it travels over the Internet. During a phone call, this results in the cutting out, or broken voice, that can ruin a conversation. You won’t see this with a traditional landline because it’s a contained call that never leaves the phone lines.
Having consistent, reliable telephone is vital to your business. We manage our own facilities so we can guarantee the best quality anywhere. We don’t resell services over someone else’s lines, so if something does break, we fix it immediately and don’t wait for someone else to do our repairs.
With almost 90 years of experience, we have the know-how to predict and prevent most network outages before they happen. With a product that’s stood the century-long test of time, you can count on your phone service being there every time you need it.
You may not have the time or energy to analyze your current phone bill to determine what you need and, more importantly, what you don’t. That’s okay; we do it for you. Our experience gives us the knowledge to create a customized digital phone system to fit your needs, often for less than you’re paying now.
Here are a few samples from our portfolio, but keep in mind we tailor everything:
PRI – Primary Rate Interface (PRI) is a bundle of 23 phone lines. PRIs are very cost effective for businesses that need more than four independent lines.
DID – Direct Inward Dial (DID) numbers are groups of phone numbers used to route incoming calls to a direct extension of a business phone system.
PBX – A large-scale phone system that serves as a local phone ‘switch’ placed inside your business, capable of enhanced features and custom call routing.
Key System – A smaller phone system, much like a mini-PBX, meant for businesses that need several phone lines.
We designed our network in strategic rings so that if a fiber cable is cut, your connection does not go down.
No matter how much we plan, sometimes things go wrong. What matters most, is how we respond in those situations. Our repair crews are within a one hour radius of any given point on our network and respond immediately, working until you are back up and running.
Unfortunately, one Christmas Eve an office building used by one of our clients was destroyed by fire. They were forced to make an emergency move. At their new location, we had them connected and ready for business within 24 hours.
Simply put, we do the best we can to prevent trouble, but if it happens we fix it quickly – even when it’s not our fault.
